We are delighted that the Royal Torbay Yacht Club will be hosting the Noble Marine RS400 National Championships 2024! 

 

 

Last visited for an RS400 Nationals in 2012, there are some very good reasons why Royal Torbay is a prestigious Nationals venue

IMPORTANT notes

If you've not sailed an RS400 Nationals before, grab a drink and watch this review of the RS400 Nationals at East Lothian, thanks to the talented Matt Sheahan and Lee Whitehead, to get a real feel for the racing and the vibe.

Schedule

As seasoned RS400 Nationals sailors will know, the fun starts on the Sunday, with optional coaching, registration and the Race Briefing. The bar will most certainly be open!

Optional Coaching: Sun 18th August 1200-1600

Registration: Sun 18th August 1500-1800 and Mon 19th August 0900-1030

Briefing and Commodore's Reception: Sun 18th August 8pm

Coaching

There will an optional afterrnon coaching session on Sunday 18th August run by top RS400 sailors, Sam Knight and Chris Bownes - the perfect opportunity to suss out the venue, ask lots of questions and for newer sailors to build confidence and make sure the boat is set up and ready to go for race 1. Recommended for all levels, the coaching will take account of the objectives of all present. We are limited to 20 places, please book with entry - first come, first served! 

Social Programme

Anyone who has sailed at the RS400 Nationals in the past will note that the fleet socials are a mix of chilled evenings with a warm welcome and lively, fun nights.

     

Details are yet to be finalised, but here is an outline of our plans:

Sun 18th - Race Briefing and Welcome  - open to all, no need to book

Mon 19th - Commodore's Reception 

Tue 20th - Buddy Group Quiz 

Weds 21st - Our chilled AGM night

Thurs 22nd -  A very special Torbay 'Model Yacht Racing' Knockout competition, if you know, you know!

Fri 23rd - The RS400 Nationals Championship Dinner, with live band. The event finale and definitely not to be missed.

There are 2 key dates to bear in mind:

15th May - enter by then to save £50, that'll get you a drink or 10!

3rd August - entry closes

Entry inlcudes 5 day's racing, 5 days coming ashore snacks, entry to all of the parties (optional food is extra), and a drink at the Commodore's Reception.

Accommodation

Torquay is in a popular seaside town and accommodation books up quickly - we really do recommend you book up now.

Charity Partner

Once again, we will be supporting the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, who support young people aged 8-24 in their recovery from cancer by inviting them on sailing or outdoor adventures. Through sailing and adventure, young people...

RS Sailing have generoulsy donated an RS400 spinnaker to be raffled for the charity at the Championship Dinner.

Refund policy:
If you cancel your entry before the early entry deadline we will refund all fees, minus a £10 admin fee. If you cancel after the early entry deadline, but before online entry closes our standard policy is to return 50% of fees. Where an event entry limit has been reached a refund will only be issued if another boat from the waiting list takes your place. If you cancel after entry closes we will not usually issue a refund.
