Saturday dawned with rain and little wind, and what there was, was very
light from the NE, a forecasters lottery. However, after a 2 hour delay, the
14 strong 400 fleet eventually got away in a very marginal 4 knots only to
be greeted with a substantial wind shift from the west, leaving the race
very much a precession. However, local stars Pete and Liss Bennett
effectively picked their way through the RS100 car park at the windward mark
to snatch victory from Nick Craig and Tom Pygall. Following a swift reset of
the course, the second race drifted along again in a very marginal 4 knots
and victory was Nick and Toms at the line with Pete and Liss in hot pursuit.

Sunday was very different with bright sunshine and a F3 with a few shifty
gusts. Race 3 got away on schedule, this time with Chris Lunnen-Kay and
Helen Pridmore showing a clean pair of heals with Nick and Tom in close
pursuit. Race 4 followed in very similar conditions with victory again going
to Nick and Tom with Jon Heissig and Nicky Grippen a fine second. Race 5 saw
the wind demonstrating its ability to get very lumpy leaving a few 400s
floundering on the wrong side of the  course, however again victory was sown
up by Nick and Tom with Josh and Patrick Metcalfe in second. The wind
quickly settled for the final race of the day and after relaying the
windward mark, the fleet again got away cleanly with victory going to Jon
and Nicky with Josh and Patrick in second.

Although the races were short, the racing was tight throughout the fleet
with much place changing in the shifty conditions over the weekend. However,
Congratulations to Nick Craig and Tom Pygall to win by 7 points, with Josh
and Patrick Metcalfe second and Jon Heissig and Nicky Grippin third. Many
thanks to the race teams and support at DWSC who laid on a very good and
well organised event.
