Travemunde: travel advice and the world's best marzipan
In case you've been on the moon for the past few months - the RS Noughty Classes and Vareos have been invited to the RS Games to be held at Travemunde in Germany!
Travemunde Week is a massive sailing experience, both on and off the water, turning the whole area into a county fair-like event with big and small commercial organisations setting up their stands. There will of course also be plenty of parties, organised by RS and others.
Accommodation covers the full range, as you would expect, and details are available on the RS and Travemunde Woche websites.
Whether you are based in the north or south of the UK, there are plenty of routes across the Channel. Some of those are:
- Newcastle to Amsterdam
- Harwich to Hook of Holland
- Dover to Calais
- Eurotunnel
The longer crossings often have shorter drives and you can sleep on board, reducing the drive to Travemunde to 6 or 7 hours. James Curtis, from the RS500 fleet, recently ran a webinar full of useful travel tips, you can view the recording here.
All the details, including links to online entry, NoR and accommodation advice here.
Whether you go for the sailing, the racing, the trophy, the parties, or the world’s best chocolate-covered marzipan, just GO!
