Results / YDSC Northern Tour Yorkshire Dales SC - 03/09/2011
The penultimate round of the Northern Tour took place on Saturday 3rd of September.
Boats from as far afield as Notts County SC and Royal Forth Yacht Club came to the start line for the first race. With a bias to port on the line and the fleet bunched at the port end it was Wayne and Deb Fletcher who were called back for an individual recall. Stuart Robertson crewed by son Ben, and Bill Kenyon crewed by Ben Ditchburn led at the windward mark only to watch the Fletchers take a massive flyer out right and develop a lead they never looked like losing. Robertson finished second and Kenyon third.
Race 2 was sailed back to back in a similar shifty, gusty southerly breeze. The outcome the same, Fletchers from Robertsons and Kenyon third.
During lunch the breeze had begun to build a little and being in the right place at the right time, especially downwind, became more and more important.
Race 3 and again the Fletchers were dominant from the start but this time Kenyon took second place with Robertson in third.
Race 4 saw the second individual recall of the day when the Robertsons were judged to have been over the line. Again the Fletchers took line honours with Kenyon just pipping Peter Snowdon (crewed by Pippa Fletcher) on the line.
With just one round of the Northern Tour left, at Notts County on 24th and 25th September it's still all to play for.... minor placings of course.
