After large numbers at recent RS400 events a reduced 14 teams attended the final RS circuit event at Rutland Sailing Club on the 21^st and 22^nd of November.  The weather forecast had looked heavy all week however conditions on Saturday were perfect with 15-18kts of breeze and some good gusts to hook into downwind.

With the forecast to blow up for Sunday afternoon the OOD ran 4 shorts races with a shifty south easterly breeze.  Nick Craig and Chris Gowers showed superior speed over the rest of the fleet taking straight 1sts and 2nds respectively.  Overnight Craig and MJ lead from Gowers and June Riley with Farbrother and Pinch clinching 3^rd with a better discard than the boys from the Island.

With an early finish most of the fleet descended to the local pub for dinner and beers leading to more beers.  Sunday morning awoke fresh and bright with new new crew MJ showing some brilliant bathroom decorating skills the night before.

With a building breeze the OOD ran the remaining 2 races earlier than scheduled with a 10am start.  Race 1 started with a southerly 16kt breeze building throughout the race for some great sailing.  Race 2 started in slightly more breeze which just kept on building.  After the first lap the breeze fully kicked in to well over 25kts and still getting stronger.  Jim Downer and Jon Price lead the diminished fleet home with Gowers/Riley in second and Sims/George taking third.

Congratulations go to Craig/MJ taking first with Gowers/Riley in second and Downer/Price clinching 3^rd on the final day with two bullets in their new boat.  Special thanks must go to the OOD for his race planning and excellent courses given the forecast for the weekend.
